Here is a video clip of the HV1600 at the
International Builder's show held in Las Vegas. The file is
approximately 8 mb in size (avi format) and is best downloaded
using a high speed internet connection.
What you will see is the HV1600 opening its insulated doors, which takes
about 30 seconds. You will then see the twin 800 cfm motors turn
on, then the unit is turned off and the doors close to form the air
tight seal.

Return On Investment:
Most homeowners experience a significant spike in their utility bills during
the summer months, due to the running of an air conditioner. Using a whole
house fan during the evening, and early morning hours will cut your A/C usage
considerably. Many clients have reported not using their A/C at all after
installing a whole house fan. For these people the energy savings are
tremendous. For people who live in hotter climates, though A/C is a
necessity during hotter daytime hours. However, anytime its cooler outside
your home, it makes sense to turn off your A/C and cool your home naturally.
Here is where the savings comes into play.
Taking an average of a 30% reduction off summer cooling costs - its easy to see
how a whole house fan will pay for itself in a short period of time.

Buying & using a whole house fan is a very energy efficient and cost effective
way to save money. Major power utility companies in California know this,
and offer cash rebates towards the purchase of a whole house fan. Its a
smart investment!
The example above gives you an idea of potential savings, which could be more,
or less depending on your whole house fan usage vs. A/C usage.
